Summary

• Local Share transfers files locally between your nearby devices (Wi‑Fi, LAN, or Wi‑Fi Direct).
• Transferred file contents stay between participating devices; we do not upload your files to MEKUF servers.
• The app does not require creating a user account.
• The free version may show ads via Google AdMob, with Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) where required and App Tracking Transparency (ATT) on iOS.
• In-app purchases are processed by Google Play or the App Store.
• The app is not directed to children under 16.
• We do not sell your personal data for our own marketing.

Who we are

Local Share is provided by MEKUF (“we”, “Developer”). This policy applies to your use of Local Share on Android, iOS, and other supported platforms.

Data we process

1) Local file transfers

• What: Files, photos, videos, documents, and other items you choose to send or receive.
• How: Transfers happen directly between devices on the local network or Wi‑Fi Direct, with local discovery (for example Bonjour).
• Our storage: We do not upload your file contents to MEKUF servers.
• On your device: Received files may be stored in the app sandbox or folders provided by the operating system.

2) Local settings & history

• What: Display device name, preferences (theme, language, optional local passwords), and on-device transfer history.
• Why: To run the app and remember your choices.
• Storage: Locally on your device until you delete it or clear app data.

3) Device permissions

• Bluetooth: To discover nearby devices and pair when you start nearby discovery or sending.
• Local network: To discover devices over LAN/Bonjour and transfer files locally.
• Location: Requested only when Android Wi‑Fi Direct requires it. We do not use location for maps, tracking, or geo-targeted ads.
• Camera: Optional QR scanning for manual pairing only.
• Photos / files: Through system pickers (Android Photo Picker / Storage Access Framework, iOS PHPicker). We do not request broad photo-library or “all files” access.
• Biometrics / Face ID: Optional local app lock.
• Notifications / foreground service (Android): To keep transfers or receiving active when needed.

4) Advertising (free version)

• What: Advertising ID (where available and permitted) and ad interaction data.
• Why: To show and measure ads (banner, interstitial, rewarded).
• Provider: Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads.
• Consent: Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) collects advertising consent where required. On iOS, App Tracking Transparency (ATT) is requested before cross-app tracking.
• Your choices: Device ad settings; reset or limit the advertising ID; in-app Privacy Options when available.

5) In-app purchases

• What: Subscription or one-time purchase status (for example Local Share Pro).
• Why: Unlock paid features and remove ads.
• Processing: Handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment card details.

6) Google Firebase services

• Firebase is used for app initialization only (for example wiring required Google services).
• Firebase is not used to upload transferred files or store their contents with us.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Limited data may be processed by providers needed to operate the app, such as:

• Google (AdMob, Play, Firebase, UMP)
• Apple (App Store / StoreKit and ATT on Apple devices)

Those providers process data under their own policies.

Retention

• Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall/clear the app.
• Advertising and purchase data are retained under Google / Apple policies.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed to children under 16. If you are a parent and believe your child provided data to us, contact us so we can delete it where applicable.

Security

Local transfers are designed to occur directly between devices, encrypted with AES-256-GCM after an X25519 key exchange. You may enable password protection or app lock. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Your choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, delete, or object to certain processing. You can also remove ads by upgrading to Pro or adjusting device ad and consent settings.

Changes

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version. Continued use of the app after an update means you have been informed of the revised policy.
